Excavator Booms: The Structural Backbone of Your Digging Power
Excavator booms set the reach, height, and lifting capacity for every job. When fatigue cracks start spidering along welds or pin bores oval-out, you lose confidence, lose breakout force—and risk costly downtime. VI Equipment stocks fully dressed replacement booms, complete with lift ears, pin bosses, hose guides, and lifting eyes, engineered to restore OEM geometry and safety margins in one swap.
Reman & Brand-New Booms for John Deere, Hitachi & Caterpillar
Need a Deere 210G mono-boom, a Hitachi ZX350 mass-excavation boom, or a Cat 325 reach configuration? We catalogue booms by machine model, serial prefix, and OEM reference, so cross-matching takes minutes. Remanufactured booms are stripped, magna-fluxed, gouged, rewelded with low-hydrogen wire, and stress-relieved before line-boring all pin bosses—delivering factory strength at roughly 60 % of dealer cost. Prefer brand-new? Our premium aftermarket line is fabricated from 690 MPa quenched-and-tempered plate, robotic-welded, and UT-scanned for porosity, then finished in OEM-match primer with lift-chart decals.
Spotting Boom Fatigue Before It Becomes a Crack
Hairline weld fissures around the top plate, fresh rust weeping from pin-boss corners, or paint bleaching near the neutral axis are all red flags. Lay a straight edge along the side plate—more than 5 mm of sag indicates plastic deformation. Send us close-ups of suspect areas or your boom serial tag, and our parts desk will advise whether a line-bore, plated repair, or complete replacement delivers the best ROI for your fleet’s utilization targets.
In-House Boom Rebuilds: Precision Line-Bored & Stress-Relieved
Our Langley fabrication shop tackles most boom rebuilds in seven business days. Plates are carbon-arc-gouged, full-pen welded, and multi-pass ground flush. Pin bosses are line-bored to ±0.05 mm, then bushed with C86300 manganese-bronze. After welding, each boom is stress-relieved in a gas furnace, sand-blasted, and primer-coated. A dimensional inspection report ships with every boom so you know breakout geometry and pin centres meet OEM spec.
